The Best Hearing Aid Bonnet Brands for Babies and Toddlers
Our tried-and-tested hearing aid bonnet brand picks — what we look for, what we've bought, and what's held up.
We absolutely love using bonnets (aka pilot caps) for our baby's hearing aid retention. We've seen all kinds of beautiful designs from Etsy sellers, including animal-themed hearing aid bonnets!
After trying a few options, we landed on two Etsy makers we keep coming back to. Here's what we look for: a snug but comfortable fit that holds the hearing aids in place without being too tight, fabric that holds up in the wash, and a fastener (snaps or ties) that works for your baby's age and your daily routine. Mesh panels and worth paying attention to too... the style and stiffness varied more than you'd expect.
We’re happy to share the brands we use:
The Bonnet Brands We Trust
Emmifaye

Style
Emmifaye on Etsy has a ton of options, with something to suit every style. We especially love the ruffled ones for our baby!
Each bonnet is handmade.
Washing
They wash and dry well in the washing machine and dryer.
Stretch Factor
Some Emmifaye bonnets are stretchier than others, due to the fabrics. We prefer the less stretchy ones, because they hold the hearing aids in the best. But others might prefer the stretchy ones for comfort.
Mesh
We've seen two kinds of mesh. The mesh in the sailboat print mesh bonnet photo above is stiffer, and has bigger holes. It's very strong.
Some of the bonnets have a softer, finer mesh.
And, some of the bonnets don't have any mesh.
Fasteners
Emmifaye offers both string ties, and add-on snaps.
String ties are the default.
We prefer the add-on snaps.
Price
Most Emmifaye bonnets have been around $14-$16.
LilNells

Style
LilNells on Etsy has adorable patterns. The inventory is limited, but changes frequently. We check back often for new cheerful patterns!
Each bonnet is handmade.
Washing
They wash and dry well, in the washing machine and dryer.
Note - The bows are fabric-glued on. So, we recommend either air drying, or using low heat, if it has a bow.
We ordered a few custom, with the bow sewn on instead, to survive our laundromat’s super high temp dryer.
Stretch Factor
LilNells bonnets are super stretchy, but somehow still hold the hearing aids in well.
Mesh
The LilNells mesh is like athletic shorts material. The holes aren't as large as Emmifaye's, but the mesh is very soft.
Fasteners
All LilNells bonnets come with snaps.
Price
Most LilNells bonnets have been around $17-$19.

Baby pic alert! Don't forget to check out the adorable babies in both sellers' reviews sections. So cute!
We've also found some hearing aid bonnets on Amazon. JELLYTREE sells a range of bonnets for newborns through 9-18 months. We haven't tried them, but they have some great reviews from customers using them for hearing aid retention.
